Brad Walters is an award winning destination wedding

photographer traveling to locations such as Mexico photographing weddings for his clients.

Mexico is a classic choice for destination weddings, and offers legendary getaways such as Acapulco, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Monterrey and Cozumel to name a few of the most visited. Mexico was ranked the 7th most popular tourist destination in 2005.

Mexico has an edge-up on most destinations for weddings, as it boasts both Caribbean beaches, and Pacific coast beaches. Activities for your honeymoon include scuba diving, camping, whitewater rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing, fishing, hiking, surfing, shopping, nightlife, golf, sailing and spas.

Mexico has a unique position on weddings however, in that only civil ceremonies are considered official. You can have a religious ceremony, but it is not considered official.

Non-native Wedding photographers will need a temporary permit for their excess gear however, or face being charged taxes upon leaving.

There are, of course, numerous extravagant resorts all over Mexico. Some of the best that also specialize in mexico destination weddings include the Four Seasons Resort in Punta Mita, the Royal Hideaway in Palyacar, the Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, the Las Ventanas in Los Cabos and the Esparanza in Cabo San Lucas.

As with many destination wedding locations, there could be a number of resorts in Mexico that do not allow destination wedding photographers, so be sure to choose a resort that allows a destination wedding photographer for your Mexico wedding. Contact our studio to be sure your venue is accommodating to destination wedding photographers. Utilizing hotel photographers as your Mexico destination wedding photographers is highly discouraged, as often these employees are not trained photographers, or have little experience photographing weddings.

A list of commonly known resorts that cater to destination weddings, but also disallow or actually charge high fees for allowing destination wedding photographers to serve their clients, include the Sandals Resorts (all locations), Breezes (all locations), Rooms On The Beach Resorts (all locations), Couples Resorts (all locations), Starfish Resorts (all locations), Grand Lido Resorts (all locations), Rose Hall (Jamaica) and the Fern Tree Spa at Half Moon (Jamaica) (The Fern Tree is the same Company as Rose Hall).
